These books grew out of my frustration…

The Three Marketing Absolutes I: Know Your Customer, Know Your Competition, Be Unique
The Three Marketing Absolutes II: A Step-By-Step Guide to Learning About Your Customers, Your Competition and Achieving Uniqueness In The Marketplace
The Three Marketing Absolutes III: The All-Important Stuff You Gotta Do First to Effectively Market Your Small Business

More years ago than I care to admit to, as a naïve college student my first job with the student newspaper was selling ads to local town merchants. Even though at the time I didn’t know diddly-squat about advertising, it didn’t take me long to see that many of those merchants spent far too much time agonizing about the wrong things in their ads.

Over the years since I’ve learned that those merchants were not untypical. That many --- most? --- small businesses fret far too much about the wrong stuff and don’t fret nearly enough about the important stuff in their marketing programs

And thus, out of this frustration I wrote my books on small business marketing.

These are the books you need to read before you ever run your first ad or send out your first direct mail piece. They are all about creating a solid foundation for your small business’ marketing efforts. And they are written especially for non-marketers!

The Three Marketing Absolutes I:

Know Your Customer, Know Your Competition, Be Unique –In this book I define “marketing” as more than just running an ad or sending out a sales rep, indeed, I suggest marketing is everything you do that touches your customers in some way. I also argue contrary to the popular notion, everyone in a given marketplace is not going to be your customer, which then follows that it is crucial to understand who is your customer. Of nearly equal importance to knowing your customers is recognizing your competition, if for no other reason than you don’t want to climb into the ring with an 800-pound gorilla. And, finally, I argue that as a marketer your #1 goal is to be unique in your marketplace.
